Bergen from high, from half way, from below

We approached Bergen under clear blue skies and warmth all around. Working our way through narrow fjords gave us spectacular scenery. Docking was delayed again though because the sea was so rough, the Captain aborted one attempt and requested the help of tugs.

So we headed off as soon as we could, intending to take the funicular up to see the famous views - but the funicular was closed for renovations and locals encouraged us to walk up. Which we did. It took longer than they said - it was a hefty but meandering climb that was good to do and worth it!

Then the walk down and a walk around the city before fitting in a quick ‘all-included’ tour, which amongst other things, told us all about Bryggen, which was fascinating.

We also had awesome food this evening - all the food has been exquisite all the time. And we’ve packed up ….
