Black Linn Falls, River Braan, Dunkeld

We’re now 700 miles from Kent at Forres on the Moray coast visiting the third branch of the Scottish family. An enjoyable journey north from Edinburgh stopping off in Dunkeld for lunch and a walk along the River Braan to Rumbling Bridge then back to the carpark.

This shot and the extra were taken from a picturesque folly known as Ossian’s Hall, built in 1757 for the Duke of Atholl as part of a pleasure ground known as The Hermitage. The river was in full spate after heavy rain. The falls were tumultuous with a menacing roar drowning out all other sounds.

We drove through some heavy rain just south of Aviemore, the dark clouds parting briefly allow the sun to create the most amazing double rainbow the main arc of which seemed to start on the bonnet of our car. Sadly no pot of gold.

Lovely to see the family again, O was a little shy at first but soon got into his stride.

We’re staying in an Airbnb in Forres. It’s a pleasant little place, just right and more space than a hotel bedroom.
