Breitenbush Hot Springs, Day 1

Backblip.

The snow started falling when I was about 1/2 mile out from the retreat center. After I got settled and our meditation group met for the first time, we looked out the window and saw snow falling on cedars and on the river. This is the lodge, a huge rambling building that holds the dining hall, library and some gathering places.

Our sessions were held in the Forest Shelter,, a beautiful, cozy building tucked into the trees; it has radiant floor heating (all the heat throughout the retreat center is geothermal) and a wonderful skylight, open to huge firs and cedars.
