The deep end
Today was my first day of a full time week, I’ve not had one of those for a while!
Determined not to be late, I got up early and had just put the finishing touches to my outfit when I received a text from Linda (my manager) to say one of the nurses had phoned in sick so would I mind working in surgery today?
I had no choice but to say ‘of course I don’t mind’, even though it meant getting changed working with the endodontist (he specialises in root canal fillings).
Now most people think there’s nothing worse than having a root canal, but there is. Assisting during a root canal!!!
It’s.
So.
Boring.
I’ve never worked with a specialist before, but he’s a kind and lovely soul and was very patient with me, as I didn’t have a clue where anything was.
Very kindly, one of our other nurses volunteered to come in on her day off to help out the look of relief on my face was obvious, so I only had to help with the first and last patients of the day.
In between, I was back manning the reception desk, seeing if I could remember what I’d be shown last week. I could…phew!
The marina was looking very peaceful on my way in this morning and it fits well with the order of the day! :-)
