Was asked about bird identification guides - this well worn one is the main one I've used since about 1974. Back then, it was always a subject for birders to dispute - whether the Collins or the Hamlyn guide was better. The reality being they both had strengths and a few weaknesses, but were both excellent when compared to went before them.
