You wanted a high chair?

Back home today after a week away, but we diverted to the coast at Goring to have a snack in one of our favourite beachside cafes. We did have a brisk walk along the top of the beach first, and then a tough walk back into wind before going inside this cafe and indulging in what must be amongst the largest cheese scones in the world (well, ok, on the south coast!) and a hot chocolate.

As we left they were just setting up a few more tables outside for the hardy eaters and I spotted this waiter with a great stack of chairs.

Without doubt, they were either very light chairs or he was stronger than me... younger too! What also was without doubt too today was the power in the wind. There were kite surfers reaching great speeds as the shot out to sea, and then raced back in again, often with a jump as they turned (... or was that a turn as they jumped ?). Some made it look so easy whereas others had the odd tumble or two. The waves were quite large too as the south westerly wind combined with the tide.

The wind, although unseen, could certainly be felt, and its effects were very obvious. I am reminded of one of the biblical representations of the power of the Holy Spirit where he is compared to a mighty rushing wind. Power to change lives, to lift people from the depths to the heights, and to equip them to do God's work in His way.
