Reading Group Day

Once a month I meet with a small reading and writing group. We discuss a book. Today’s was ‘ If Beale Street Could Talk’ by James Baldwin. Everyone liked the book, for its powerful message and beautiful poetic writing. We also do some writing based on it, or another theme. We meet at the Livermead Cliff Hotel, which has spacious areas to sit and talk and write. We look at this view of Torquay, far removed from Harlem in the 1970s. That’s the great thing about books. They take you elsewhere.
