Spring flowers
My first stint on the veg plot this year, renewing my love/hate relationship with a piece of ground which exhibits all the worst ills the land is heir to, viz.
Brambles
Nettles
Bindweed
Couch grass
Docks
Thistles
Creeping buttercup
Oxalis
etc.
These plants, aka weeds, are remarkable and fascinating in their land grab strategies but they make relentless competitors. So why do I bother?
Because when the vegetable garden presents me with such beautiful fresh flowers in the early spring my heart melts and my mouth waters.
