Boring work Blip today. The final part of something I've been working on for most of the week, and (yesterday) I appear to have cracked the issues with getting it to work. Did leave the most challenging bit to the end.

Good to have some time to focus on just one job, rather than the norm of juggling with many, and "fighting fires." Such opportunities only arise outside of term time, when the Students and Lecturers are (normally) not about. It would be constant stopping and starting, with time repeatedly wasted trying to get going again, "Now where was I?"

The job has been on my "round tuit" list for many a year. Starting was awkward. Had to reverse engineering the original, as someone has long since snaffled, or lost, the original documentation.

The plan is to revive two old (mid 1980's) bits of kit. Improve their performance, add extra features, and make them able to be controlled by modern equipment... rather than the BBC Micro's they were originally designed for! If successful, there are numerous other pieces of equipment that could undergo similar transformations. It'll also stop them collecting dust...

Circuits all now working on the bench. Next stage is to build a prototype printed circuit board (PCB). Today was largely spent documenting the progress, by drawing the various bits of circuit diagrams. At least this way, we'll know how it works! PCB is half designed.

One Student did come in, and I spent about an hour sorting out his circuit design issues. I do try to encourage them to come in, and take advantage of the quiet. Especially the likes of the degree level classes, that are soon to face their final exams.

Normal chaos service resumes on Monday, with the return of the hordes...
