Maid of the Loch Rainbow

I went out for a dog walk after the rain and to see what the fading light would bring. I was facing west as a wee rain squall hit us and turned to see a rainbow, a double in fact, over the Maid of the Loch with a fantastic dark sky behind.

The Maid is the last paddle steamer to be built in Britain and was built twice. Once in the Glasgow shipyard of A & J Inglis and she was then disassembled and brought to Balloch and built again and launched in 1953. After being a popular tourist attraction for many years she was decommissioned in 1981 as lifestyles changed.

A group are trying to restore her to sailing condition and up until Covid you could walk around and there was a cafe and even weddings. Would be wonderful if she could sail again.
