Sakura time!

The first blossoms appeared on my little cherry tree this morning. I really love cherry blossom or ‘Sakura’ as it’s known in Japan. Hanami is the Japanese custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers.
Every year in Japan the cherry blossom forecast is eagerly awaited. People use the forecast to decide when best to hold their hanami flower viewing parties.
The cherry blossom season begins at the start of February in Okinawa and spreads north as the weeks progress. This year it is is forecast to reach Tokyo on March 22. It normally takes about one week to 10 days from flowering to full bloom.
We were lucky to be in Japan a few years ago at this time of year. So beautiful!
