Parade of the stills
Excitement on Wooler High Street this morning, when crowds of people watched two giant copper stills paraded through the town on their way to the site of the Ad Gefrin distillery and visitor experience. The stills were preceded by a Northumbrian piper and a fiddler, and two vintage trucks escorted them on the last leg of their 230-mile journey from Rothes.
Apparently the stills will take around 4 months to install, and the aim is to start distilling in the autumn. The first Northumbrian single malt whisky will start maturing in 2025.
Hoping that we'll still be around to taste it!
