Come to the Cabaret!

A wonderful night in the theatre, immersive, beautiful, charged with great performances from Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley.  She hadn’t quite picked up the reviews but I thought she was fantastic.  Her performance of Cabaret itself will live in my head for a long time.  The show did end dark, ‘the bubbles went out of the champagne’ I remarked to Brian (on the right). It’s a dark story but it means you don’t quite go out on a high.

Lorenzo, (L) and I planned to go as he was in Town but Christian (C) my colleague and his partner joined us.  We managed to get house seats as I had worked with Eddie in the past and know his agent well.  So the seats were good, at little tables and there’s nothing more lovely than a little table with a glass of champagne.  They had transformed the theatre into the Kit Kat club and the burlesque dancers and roving band before the show was hugely enjoyable.

We then had a late dinner and I stayed over in HRH arriving at well past midnight. A proper night out! Let’s hope the new stratospheric covid rates don’t get me as they’ve got so many others this week.
