The Tui Serenade
We went to the Parnell Farmers Market this morning, as usual. A number of stall holders were missing and it wasn’t as busy as usual. We were delighted to bump into a friend whose birthday is today, so were able to wish her a happy birthday in person.
Hubby went off to the Maritime Museum but not before refilling the Tui bottle feeder. Two of them come regularly during the day, keeping us entertained with their antics. They each approach the feeder differently, which is interesting to watch, and are now getting through a bottle of the sugar water a day. They sit in the tree to which the feeder is attached and serenade us. It’s really lovely to listen to their songs.
Apparently there was great excitement on board the Ted Ashby as it pulled away from the wharf and into the harbour when a whale was spotted surfacing nearby. Mobile phones were quickly pulled out but the whale only obliged once or twice more. Still, it was a highlight of the trip.
After hubby arrived home we walked down to St Heliers to sit and look at the water and enjoy a drink. One turned into two so we decided to order some aranchini to nibble on before walking back up the hill. A most enjoyable interlude. As I hadn’t had the chance to take a blip during the day, I took a blip of our drinks and aranchini.
