Cutting it fine

Stayed over last night with my friend who lives in Edinburgh and as it was a beautiful sunny morning we headed down to Cramond to walk across the causeway to Cramond Island. The causeway runs beside a row of concrete pylons which were constructed as an anti-boat boom during the Second World War.
Low tide was as 09:00 and we headed across at 10.00. We had a nice wander up the hill and around the beaches. At around 11.30 we thought it best to head back and were surprised at how quickly the tide was coming in. By the time we got back across we looked back to see several people just leaving the island and part of the causeway was under water. It is a walk of around a mile so they were taking a chance wading through the water or alternatively, be stranded on the island till tonight!
