Pippi Longstocking at the Purim party
This evening Mr hazelh and I walked across town and along the canal to Rachel's flat for a Purim party. It was a small gathering of six: myself, Mr hazelh, Rachel, Rachel's flatmate Charmaine, and Charmaine's friends Dodie and Farooq.
Five out of the six of us came in fancy dress, so the company comprised Pippi Longstocking, a mime artist, a griffin (see the extra), a leprechaun fairy, and a milkmaid. The diversity of the costumes was also reflected in the faiths represented at this Jewish celebration: two atheists who had been brought up in the Protestant Christian tradition, a Catholic, two Jews, and a Muslim.
Over the course of the evening we worked our way through the dishes in the feast prepared by Rachel and Charmaine (see the extra), chatted, and played Bananagrams. It really was a lovely way to spend a Saturday night.
Earlier in the day I worked on my costume (mainly adjusting the dress), and on teaching prep for next Thursday.
Exercise today: walking (11,605 steps).
