First of the season

In honour of my Dutch chapter I planted lots of tulips all over the garden and the first ones have appeared. I love the simplicity and colour of these lovely flowers.
Highly prized when they were first brought over to Europe by the Dutch in the 17th century when collectors became quite obsessed with them. The spiralling prices reached mind boggling heights with one bulb costing more than an average workers annual income. With that many tulips in my garden I would have been a multi billionaire!
