Food Blip.

A couple of reasons for a food Blip - went to Waitrose  - I don't do all my shopping there for the obvious reason - it's quite expensive and Aldi fresh produce is ....well.... fresh and cheap!  There are a few things I do get from Waitrose though and whilst there on Friday I thought I would get a ready-to-go cannelloni - it was virtually inedible....dry, leathery, tasteless - binned it!   To add insult to injury I also treated myself to some dates - not the really expensive Medjool ones which were £4.50 for about 6 but some that were £2.50.  They were also dry, leathery and tasteless!  
So yesterday I made my own pasta and there was some for today as well.  Spent the day at the allotment and made a start.... a late start on getting the beds up and ready and found some tiny little leeks,  broccoli and flat leaved parsley,  added cream, Parmesan shavings, salt and pepper and it was delicious!  Making pasta is a bit of a labour of love but I found a recipe for a small batch that could be made in a mini processor which requires only minimal kneading - it worked perfectly.  Just got to clean the pasta machine down now but it was worth it.
