A short break

during my bike ride.
It was very busy at the Vrijthof in Maastricht. I settled on the little steps to St. John's Church to draw the 't Zaat Herremenieke, a group of five bronze statues, referring to the 1st disorganized and sans conductor carnival orchestra of Maastricht. That orchestra was called the Zaate Heremenie, freely translated drunken harmony orchestra.

Unfortunately it soon became apparent that I was sat right next to a rather loud announcer. A small group of dancing, singing and euphoric people apparently wanted to make it clear to the entire square including the terraces that they believed in Jesus. I could only tolerate it for one drawing, then I felt the compulsion to continue my bike ride as soon as possible.
