FIGGY's Sporadic Blips

By Figgy

When travelling to Aberdeen to visit #1 son one must pay a visit to The Scottish Real Ale Shop at Kilmahog first. #1 son likes his Scottish micro ales.

Originally a microbrewery in an outhouse next to the Lade Inn, beers were being produced with the nearby Bridge of Allan brewery, now Traditional Scottish Ales. But the brewery proved a headache and it closed, contracting the beers to TSA. Considering a new use for the outhouse, the owner and his son-in-law settled on the idea of a beer shop.

Over 130 beers from over 30 different breweries are stocked in the relatively small but pleasant space. Tastings are provided most weekends and the Trossachs Beer Festival, held across the pub and shop in late August and early September, recently celebrated its fifth year.
