Standing Firm In An Anxious World
At FBC, we know that the world we live in is filled with opportunities to become discouraged which is why we are told not to forsake the assembling together as is the habit of some. We have the blessing of being able to come together to encourage one another by joining our hearts and voices in praise to the Lord. We have the blessing of hearing the choir, orchestra and accompanists remind us of God's ever-present care through the beautiful words of the song, "He Will Carry You". And, to top it all off, we have the blessing of Pastor Wes taking us into Philippians 4:4-7 to encourage us to stand firm in our faith in God in some very specific ways. We are told that we should rejoice in the Lord always because of who He is and what He has already done. We are told to let our gentle spirit which we received from Christ be known to ALL even when they don't deserve it! We are told not to be anxious about anything, but to communicate our needs to God. He already knows what we need, but we need to spend time with Him in prayer so that we can be open to receive the peace of God that is beyond our understanding to guard our hearts and minds as we look to Him to meet our needs. And at the end of the service, we were blessed by seeing the beginning of a new life in Christ. I'm glad I was there to enjoy the blessings! I hope that you were there, too. I am sure that there will be more blessings next week. There may be shortages of some things in our world these days, but God has no shortage of blessings that He wants to give us.......
