PUSH!

It was Sue’s turn to choose the walk. She took me on a mystery tour and as we headed towards Marple I guessed we were heading for the locks on the canal. We joined the towpath at lock twelve and walked down to one and then on to the aqueduct. We then went off-piste and walked along the River Goyt. It was glorious in the sunshine and quite warm. We walked round Brabyns Park and then found a rather lovely pub with a beer garden overlooking the river. We treated ourselves to a G&T with a delicious salad. The walk back to Marple was along the other side of the river and we found a path that took us up by the aqueduct, through some thicket, up a steep slope, through someone’s drive and out of a yard where there was a sign saying ‘Danger. Do Not Pass’…ooops! We like an adventure lol.

We took it in turns to pose by each lock gate, getting sillier as we went on. “I’m even and you’re odd,” said Sue. Hmmmm, probably true ha ha ha. At number 10 there was a boat coming through. Sue had a pic with this man lol. He had opened that gate, and all the others, about eight times that day. They were digging silt and taking it up the canal to be taken for fertiliser.

We clocked up just over 17,300 steps. I’m going to sleep well tonight.
