I Can Hear The Grass Grow

Which means it’s time to drag the lawnmower out of the garage, some five months after it was put away for the winter. It does seem that the first cut of the year is getting earlier and the last cut getting later. Probably something to do with global warming. Or Brexit.
If truth be told, the grass was probably still a bit too wet to be cut, but you don’t get that many dry, sunny days in the Lake District, so couldn’t risk leaving it any longer, especially as we’re going away for a long weekend tomorrow.
Unfortunately, once the grass had been mown, a large bald patch was revealed. Thinking back, this is where we emptied the contents of the hot water cylinder when it was temporarily removed last year. Presumably there were some chemicals in the cylinder which are not grass friendly. I don’t have any grass seed as such so asked Mrs C to scatter bird feed in the damaged area - if the dense foliage under the bird feeders is anything to go by, at least some of it should take root. That’s the theory anyway. We can’t afford to do anything with the garden this year as any remaining renovation funds are needed for re-rendering the walls of the house.
Apart from mowing the lawn, we did a bit of shopping this morning and then I went to the gym whilst Mrs C met up with friends to go for a walk. She’s out at camera club tonight, and I’ve got a play rehearsal, so I suppose we won’t meet up again until supper time! And there I was thinking that we’d spend more time together now we’re retired.
