A peacock butterfly resting in the garden
After seeing a Small Tortoiseshell feeding on pollen a couple of days ago, I was delighted to see a yellow Brimstone today, althougn it only seemed to overfly the garden.
A short while later three peacocks fluttered about the garden, sometimes swirling around each other in mid-air as if dancing together.
I grabbed my camera and waited for one of them to land and slowly approached it. It flew away but not for long. I persevered and eventually managed to get reasonably close for this picture after it alighted on the fence post. What gorgeous colours. It looks as if its tail has been damaged which I presume happened last year before it hibernated.
