Today's the day .......................... to be selfish

I suppose it is a bit mean not to be sorry that it's raining cats and dogs out there - because I had to work today.

Would it sound better to say that actually we really need the rain because the ground is very dry and the rivers are at an all-time low?

Yes - alright - it's just plain selfish ......................
