True story: Young lad at work got a fright last week when he looked out the window of his London flat to see a horde of TV crews and press photographers pointing their lenses at the front door he shares with his downstairs neighbours.

In a scene I imagine was something like Spike going to confront the media on his doorstep in the film Notting Hill, my colleague went to find out what was going on.

Turns out the downstairs neighbours are Richard Ratcliffe, his daughter, and now Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. The penny hadn't dropped despite him running into Richard on the stairs several times and the lad picking up Richard and Nazanin's post for months.

He explained: "To be fair to me, they haven't been around much lately."
