Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 Tuesday — Freeway or Parking Lot?

I was so glad I was behind the steering wheel when the 101 Freeway came to a complete standstill as we were passing through the heart of Los Angeles. Mr. Fun does not like traffic, and that is putting it mildly. Traffic doesn’t bother me.

When we finally got to the scene of the accident and viewed the horribly wrecked vehicles, I looked at Mr. Fun and politely said, “I’d rather be in the big slow bunch than in this awful crunch.” He agreed as I accelerated to top speed along with the other cars, and we were on our way again.

In the 10+ years we have been regularly making the journey to the Central Coast, we have maybe only one other time come to a complete standstill. We have many times been in slow traffic. So our journey today took 25 minutes longer than usual. No biggie; we did not have an appointment to get to.

Mr. Fun had driven from the start of our trip. At 7:01 we left our Central Coast driveway. Once we got past Ventura, Camarillo, and up the steep grade to Newberry Park, we exited on Wendy Drive to a convenient stop at McD’s and changed positions in the car and I drove us to the transition from the 210 freeway to the 57 freeway and the first offramp on the 57 Freeway for a stop at a gas station/potty stop. Then we changed positions in the car again and Mr. Fun drove us to our SoCal driveway. We arrived moments past noon after making a total of 3 stops during this trip.

It was good to be out of the car and off the road.

Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
