Scare them off

I’d just read the article about restaurants in Venice supplying water pistols to their diners to discourage bird thieves, when I wandered through the gardens of the Savoy Palace.

The hawk was there (with his handler) and he was certainly quite a deterrent to the swooping gulls.

We did go up to the gardens today. Our choice was the Botanical Gardens and it was delightful. The only problem was that there were three cruise ships in today and the cafe was heaving.

No worries. We just waited for our refreshments until we were back in Funchal.
