Coleshill Pillory
After a day working in Derby I headed home picking G up on the way. G's office is on a business park near the North Warwickshire town of Coleshill and I decided to stop there briefly for a blip.
My target was the preserved pillory and whipping post. It dates from about 1760 and according to Wikipedia was used to punish drunks, and bakers who sold underweight loaves. Quite why bakers, and not other traders, were singled out for such punishment is not made clear.
