Bollywood and Torture Chambers
What a fab day!
I went to London today to meet up with a friend and have a bit of belated birthday celebration.
We had booked to go to the London Dungeon as neither of us had been before and despite a 90 minute queue we were still in good spirits once we made it inside. You travel around the inside of the Dungeon in a large group and ours was made up predominantly of middle aged women (no not me and my mate) from Wigan, an Irish family, a family from Saudi Arabia and a gaggle of very screamy teenage girls. As there are lots of times when you are in pitch black waiting to be pounced on or scared witless, my friend and I decided we would add to the 'ambience' by randomly screaming so that the girls would be totally on edge for the entire duration. So, so, so funny and despite the staff doing their utmost to scare us, we couldn't stop laughing....until we got to the Sweeney Todd room....I won't spoil it for anyone who's not been :-)
After the Dungeon the sky began to leak profusely and so we took cover and grabbed something to eat. About a hour later and the sky was still leaking and so we went into the Southbank Centre. It turns out that the Alchemy Festival was in full swing and as part of it, they were filming a short Bollywood film inside the centre. The general public were invited to join in and so we sat and watched hundreds of people dancing Bollywood style and having a great time. According to a lady I chatted to, they do this every year and normally it's held outside only because of today's leaking, it was inside. I've noted the date on my phone so next year I hope to be a Bollywood dancer extraordinaire :-)
Today's Blip is of one of the 'statues' on the South Bank. He looked a bit bored but that's only because everyone was ignoring him in favour of watching Darth Vader blowing up balloons....us public are so easily pleased :-) Still can't quite work out how this guy is sitting on fresh air!
Hope you all had a great Saturday!
