A fairy garden!
Friday
It was a cold dreary day today, and we had a rather lazy morning at home, before venturing out early afternoon to go hiking at Rowe Woods, and see their banks of daffodils, and Spring wildflowers which are starting to bloom. As we went down the terraced gardens, I discovered a couple of little “fairy gardens”, which I had never noticed before. I thought they were really cute - children would love them - and I chose them for my blip, rather than the Spring flowers which I had expected to blip, though I have put a second flower collage in extras! Having got my fill of fairies and flowers, we set off for our hike, with some ups and downs for some good cardio, and a few creek crossings, though the water is relatively low at present so they weren’t a problem to cross.
Friday nights during Lent, it is a tradition over here for the Catholic Churches to do a Fish Fry dinner, but in all our years we have never been to one, so this year we decided to try one. We chose Good Shepherd, a huge, modern Catholic Church quite near us. They serve from 5-7 pm, and besides being an outreach into the community, the money raised goes towards the Youth ministry and their summer mission trip. We had to wait in quite a long line to be served, but it moved fairly quickly. We made a rough estimate the hall could seat about 280, and it was virtually full, with people coming and going all the time. The food was really quite good - I had fish, French fries and coleslaw, Roger had fish with baked potato and green beans. There were a few other options such as salad or fish tacos. Then there was dessert to follow, though by the time we got to the table there wasn’t much left, so on our way back home, we treated ourselves to a Graeters Ice cream sundae to share! Graeters is a city icon, being a five generation family run business!
I’ve posted three days this evening, so you may like to scroll back and see those!
