Rue-leaved Saxifrage
I had an afternoon trip out to Bainton to check a route for two walks I'm leading at the Bainton Primrose Festival next Saturday. The churchyard was looking stunning (see extra), and I finally managed to find a couple of plants of Rue-leaved Saxifrage in flower on the Buttercross. This one is slightly odd as it has six petals rather than the usual five.
It took me nearly ninety minutes to wend my way round the churchyard and its immediate environs, and I recorded well over a hundred plant species (not including the mosses). The weather looks set fair for the weekend so it should be a wonderful celebration of this jewel of a site.
