Ratlines
Clear blue sky and yellow gorse for Ukraine. The gorse is on the hillock a little west of Rosehearty where, in the 18th century Lord Garden of Troup built this doocot to celebrate his acquisition of the forfeited Pitsligo Estate. It was said to provide a vantage point from which all his estates could be viewed as well as providing doos for his table. There is a ball finial to represent each of his estates.
The ratlines - projecting ledges of stone which prevented rats climbing up the walls to steal the pigeon eggs from the nest boxes are prominent in the sunshine.
