Dubai or not Dubai (or both)?

We'd planned to go to the World Expo in Dubai in December 2020 but, for obvious reasons, our trip was cancelled. I was really pleased we couldn't go, as Dubai is on my wish list of places I want to visit just below the centre of a black hole and the fiery depths of hell.
 
My son wasn't bothered either but my husband and daughter wanted to go and as my husband still had two more free plane tickets and loads of hotel points to use, he and our daughter flew off today for a long weekend there. The irony of their visit coinciding with P&O, which is owned by a company in Dubai, sacking hundreds of workers without any notice wasn't lost on me. 

It was good that my daughter was able to experience it for herself, I guess, and they brought me back some sand from the desert. Both Ukraine and Russia had exhibits there but they boycotted the Russian one.

Fittingly, there appeared to be much Saharan sand on our windows today, which now means that they are as dirty on the outside as inside!
