Day 13: Street Life
A great new experience last night, and a thoroughly enjoyed one!
A group of us went to what is referred to as "Ghetto fish", a tiny fisherman run restaurant right next to the fishing "village" in Jumeirah.
In a city where the usual options are five star and valet parking, it was fantastic to feel something a bit more real.
Very simple place, you queue for 40 odd minutes to get to a window in the kitchen where you order your fish, which is a choice of whatever is caught on the day, which last night was Snapper, Dory and "bubbbleh" (I'm sorry I didn't hear that, what was the last one......."bubbbelleh", Im sorry one more time, "BUBBBLYEH"
Its all marinated in the same herbs and spices, and is then bbq'd/cooked while you sit and wait.
Once your name is called you get a table, and you can then order paratha's, rice and salad.
You then rip the (perfectly cooked and crusted) fish to pieces with your hands, and wash up in the kitchen when you're done.
In summary you wait far far far too long, on uncomfortable and TINY plastic seats, get quite bored and its still worth it. The fish is amazing! And cheap (obviously)
This months challenge is here.
Please also see my entry for last week. Especially proud of it and no one has seen it!!
