Fish net mending needle

My husband was given this treasure by one of his cousins and her husband during our trip to Hawaii.  He mentioned that he used to help their grandfather mend fishing nets when he was a young boy. This needle had been passed down from grandfather to an uncle to cousin's husband. When they heard that my husband used to help with the mending, they gifted the heirloom piece to him. It's probably at least 100 years old, made of bamboo.
