Old One of Mum 1940s
Mum is a teenager here working as a Nanny to two young girls of the family of the Lyle sugar company. They lived at Butterstone Lodge near Dunkeld and had a whole fleet of staff including a chauffeur.
Mum was exhausted after the party last night so mid afternoon walked up to her house with a bunch of big headed daffs. The heat in her living room was of sauna proportions with the high temps outside and her heating on! The only way I could sit and chat was to sit out in the bench in the garden so got her outside there. No wonder she was sleeping when we arrived!
We walked home around 5:30 and hadn’t really had much to eat and was feeling a bit woozy on the mostly uphill walk home. Cooked the shelled prawns that I got from the fish van on Friday, in garlic and butter with some chips, and they were superb.
Laura and Ben were up earlier in the day and we sat out in the garden. My first from her was a beautiful ceramic starfish from Tayberry studio and I love it. Just the kind of thing I love, delicate and pretty.
Absolutely knackered and bed at 10!
