Crown imperial

Well, here it is in all its glory - the fritillaria imperialis has survived whatever pests threatened it in previous years and has now produced a magnificent flower. I can now breathe a sigh of relief. I have read that they can take a few years to establish so maybe it’s just been working itself up to this for the past few years since I first planted it. I did see another one the same in someone else’s garden this morning, so may be it’s a good year for them. Glad it has managed it before the threatened cold weather hits us later this week.
