A host of golden Daffodils.
Another day another trip down the valley chauffering Clickychick and clients. The Lady of the couple was very keen on daffodils, remarking on how lovely it was the way villages, etc round here have daffs along the verges.
Obviously, Wordsworth's Daffodils had to be one of the stops. I suspect that when William and Dorothy were wandering around the shores of Ullswater there really was a "host of golden daffodils". I am afraid that nowadays they suffer from too many people. There is evidence of plants being stood on and worse evidence of people having fires, which are strictly a no no.
Visitors do some awful things, I didn't mention it at the time but the other day when we were at "falling rocks" I retrieved from among the bushes, a full size kitchen frying pan complete with burned food stuck to the bottom. Obviously, it had been used on one of the fires which scarred the grass. Another annoying find, today, was a full size garden daffodil growing in one of the clumps. The result is going to be not wild daffodils but hybrids if this sort of trend continues. Sorry rant over.
The blip is one of the larger clumps.
