Llauts.
I love the style of these traditional boats, and if I were a boaty type, didn't get seasick and knew how to swim, I would choose one of these little chaps over the multi-million euro superyachts in the harbour of Mahon.
Menorca, like the other Balearic Islands, has a tradition of trawling that was carried out in a type of traditional boat called llaüt.
The traditional llaüt is a true work of craftsmanship and consists of a small Latin sailing boat, approximately four meters long that holds three masts and can reach seven knots of speed.
Currently we can find more modern models to which they have added engine and are usually manufactured with new materials such as fiberglass, much cheaper than traditional wood.
It is a very stable and consistent boat ideal for different types of activities such as recreational sailing or sport fishing.
