Heat sealer

A busy day on our sewing projects.
The gov got on with a wet weather accessory whilst I got back to the sail. Some early set backs with the machine making horrible tangles on the back of the fabric and worse still - weak seams that came apart with a firm tug. I changed the needle and used standard thread on the bobbin which seemed to work, then ran out of standard weight thread. I did manage to cut the seam tapers then heat seal the raw edges to prevent fraying. The old soldering iron makes a good heat sealer, just run the raw edge along the side of the hot bit. Some progress, trip to the haberdashery tomorrow.
