Optimism

A couple of kilometres away from our home, next to the Gersprenz, you can see this information board. It tells you what possible fish you might see in German inland waters. Why do I call it optimistic?
The board is about 10 years old, and although we walk along the Gersprenz pretty often, we haven't ever seen such a big variance of fish in it.
We have seen trout, of course (they didn't volunteer to come and visit this lovely rivulet). But apart from that? No other fish. There might be some eel or tiny perch, but we didn't see them. We saw nutria, signal crayfish, traces from beavers, rats, and many different kind of birds. But not so much fish.
Well, hope springs eternal, isn't that what they say? (Or hope dies last...)
