Not a fake

Being 1st April just thought I’d make that clear. We often see this heron on our walks and it always lifts my spirits.

Today I finally managed to get all three of our protection staff roles filled for Romania, Poland and Moldova. Phew, it’s not been easy. Two of our new recruits have lots of international experience running refugee response programmes. The third started as a volunteer on Lesbos in Greece and worked her way up - this will be a step up for her to a bigger job but I think she’ll be great.

Traffickers continue to be one of the biggest threats to women and children - directly at border points and also when they are at transit centres. Within Ukraine Russia continues with the tactics they have used for years in Syria: agreeing to humanitarian evacuations and corridors then attacking them in order to demoralise the civilian population. No wonder the Red Cross is demanding strong guarantees for the safety of convoys evacuating people from Mariupol.
