Pranks for April Fool's Day
Cristina is off on a location shoot for a commercial, so Seth is running their household, and for April Fool's Day he put blue food coloring in their water bottles, left little notes in their lunchboxes.
It was Evan's day to have time with me, and he wanted to devise an April Fool's prank he could play on his dad and Bella, but he warned, "I'm no good at pranks. Will you help me?"
He explained, "Pranks can hurt people or hurt their feelings. Pranks can embarrass people. Pranks can set people up for something good and then leave them disappointed. Pranks can be mean." He wrapped it up, "If a prank makes someone feel stupid, it's not a good prank." I agreed wholeheartedly.
We decided to buy a little packet of four macarons and alter two of the macarons just enough to be surprising. We cut two of them open and sprinkled the buttercream with cinnamon, nutmeg, and just a trace of cayenne pepper. Not enough to hurt, but enough to surprise. Then we bought a macaron for each of us (which we didn't alter) and enjoyed them together BEFORE dinner.
Beware of children bearing gifts--at least on this day of the year.
