Fun in Manchester
What a wonderful day!
We started in Alexandra Park with the park run. Mr hazelh and Paddy joined the runners (first extra), Caitlin volunteered as a marshall, and I took photographs. Our two runners were very pleased with their times. Paddy beat Mr hazelh to the finish line by 6 seconds, but Mr hazelh was not complaining: he is 31 years older than Paddy, after all!
The four of us returned to the Foxes' house for breakfast. Afterwards the youngsters headed into town to revisit old haunts - they studied for both their undergraduate and Masters degrees at the University of Manchester - and Clarissa and I made a quick sortie to the Co-Op. We bought ingredients for tomato and basil soup for lunch, which we brewed up immediately on our return to the house.
This afternoon we popped into town to hunt down Pre-Raphaelite art in the city art gallery, followed by tea in the café. It was here that I blipped the beautiful Pilkington tiles from the end of the C19th. We also made a wee diversion to see the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst - see the second extra.
Back home again we played two rounds of Catan. Paddy won the first and I the second - but only because Paddy tutored me. Then we settled down in different rooms to watch films. It is always so much fun to visit the Foxes!
Exercise today: walking (9121 steps).
