Dunnock
For most people the dunnock is just another little brown bird. It’s often called a hedge sparrow, although it’s not a sparrow but an accentor - it’s nearest relative is the alpine accentor. It spends most of the year skulking in the undergrowth, but in early spring it becomes more of an extrovert and sings from a prominent perch.
First thing this morning my sister rang. Mum passed away overnight. Much of the day has been spent thinking about her.
