BGH
Up early beautiful day. Body attack then walked the Prom. Lots of plans then boom scuppered with a wee brave phonecall from poorly Herbie who broke out of the Western on Tuesday for H’s graduation and now was in very real pain and couldn’t even keep water down.
Zoomed to Oxton to pick her up and then down to the BGH. Unfortunately every flaw of the NHS alive and well in the Borders.
Watching a 76 year old in extreme discomfort and distress be treated in humanely was tough. Colo rectal consultant more concerned with why we’d chosen to go the Western than his department earlier in the week ( the GP referred her) and also trying to wangle out of dealing her by focussing on her hip and saying ‘I’m not an orthopaedic surgeon’ why are you here’ and then to add to it all , he couldn’t spell her Sunday name Maureen ( Morine) and thus couldn’t find her records from the other hospital.
Lazy, uncaring and downright cruel, I feel a left coming on.
Red rag to a bull for me.
Finally seven hours later at 9pm she was given something for the sickness and a bed for the night.
Shocking treatment. Disappointed!
