Spring foliage

A fine Sunday, time to get out in to the 'yard again to sort out some more of the damage inflicted by the vandal blackbirds. Soil replenished in a couple of containers where the birds seem to have been digging down to Australia, leaving large holes in the soil and plants with bare roots.  Chicken-wire cages constructed over a couple of pots to protect the contents, and large stones put on bare earth in others. A couple of cages removed as they're now inhibiting plant growth. And lots of soil swept off the concrete. It was good to be outside though, even in the company of the offending blackbirds - the female with the white markings is becoming even more bold, and seemed completely unperturbed by my presence as she hopped around the 'yard.

The Hebe (or should it be Hebes?) has its purple spring foliage, and wood anemones are peering through its leaves.
