Bletilla striata

Aka Chinese ground orchid or hyacinth orchid. Mr S brought home some of these tubers from a class many years ago, and they never disappoint. Delicate yet surprisingly hardy, they brighten a shady area where nothing else cares to grow. 

Our LA family arrived this afternoon, so there will be a fine week of good food and visiting, maybe some nice walks. Definitely a lot of patio time in the fabulous weather we've been having.
