We're on our way to Cardiff!
The awesome weekend continues!
Today it was the big match, the SWALEC Cup Semi-final Neath v Aberavon down in Swansea. We'd lost to Aberavon just a couple of weeks ago, but we still felt fairly confident that we could win this and earn a trip to Cardiff.
The game started well and we slowly but surely got ourselves in front, with our Captain Courageous Gareth Gravell scoring a try. Although a late Aberavon try in the first half saw them claw themselves back into the match, and at half time it was anyone's game. The second half saw Aberavon in the ascendancy but again Grav scored his second try and we were back in charge. Yet again Aberavon got their way back into the game and were starting to look dangerous, but then as things started to go their way a great break by Aarron Bramwell saw centre Dean Cummins score our third try and it looked like the finishing line was in our grasp.
But when you're playing your nearest rivals in a cup semi-final the game is never over, and sure enough Aberavon began to get the upper hand. Things got even worse when first Chris Morgans got sin binned, and then barely minutes later Dean Cummins got sin binned. It was backs to the wall stuff and time to dig in, and dig in we did, grinding out the result and booking our place in the Cup Final on May 4th against Pontypridd. That ain't going to be easy, but at the start of this season we never imagined we'd get this far, and in a cup final anything can happen.
Neath! Neath! Neath!
It's been a pretty special weekend!
